This has certainly been an interesting, if occasionally annoying, winter. Del Valle Regional Park has been closed for weeks due to extensive flooding – I’ve seen photos of submerged picnic tables, and they were taken before subsequent storms that worsened the situation. Although the main park remains closed to this day, they finally opened the Arroyo Road staging area, so I headed that way the other day. You have to cross a usually smallish, quiet creek to get from the parking lot to the trails, but it was raging and very high this day.
I took this picture to try to show how close to the bridge the water level was. It’s kind of hard to tell from the photo but water is just a foot or two below the bridge.
