Sunol cattle

Sometimes the only animals I come across when out for hikes are the EBRPD’s grazing cattle. Funny story, my close friend, Duke, was visiting from Australia a few weeks ago while training for a marathon. I gave him directions to one of the Garin Regional Park trailheads from my house, warned him the hills were intense and the altitude higher than Sydney’s, and sent him on his way. Twenty minutes later I received a panicked phone call: “Tiny, there is a huge bull blocking the trail, what do I do???” Oops, I guess I should have warned him! (I’m also very proud to report this was Duke’s first marathon and he later ran it in 3 hrs, 36 minutes, which as a non-runner I find absolutely amazing.) Anyway, these cattle were in Sunol and were not very threatening:
