Feral cats

A few weeks ago I checked out a mysterious park called Pacific Commons Linear Park because I heard of some raptor sightings happening there. I guess a “linear park” is one that is a trail that goes in a line. And Pacific Commons is a big shopping center that line borders. I found the park to be a) raptorless and b) about as exciting as it sounds, except the place was apparently overrun by feral cats. When I arrived I found it interesting that the cats weren’t actually hiding from me, as feral cats are generally wont to do, but I quickly learned what was going on. Shortly after I arrived – just after I took the pictures below – a lady arrived carrying a few bags. She parked herself under a tree and starting withdrawing something from the bags, at which time all of the cats began meandering their way over to her. She was feeding them and obviously does so every day. I guess these cats were pretty disappointed I wasn’t that lady, but I had kind of a hard time not nabbing that little kitten and taking him home. Yes, I already have a black cat at home, and no, my tortie would NOT accept another cat, but…I’m a sucker for cats.
