bad pictures of a kestrel

Happy Bloomsday!!

My owl guru/eagle guide, Sharon, beat me to Vargas Plateau by a day or two and reported that she’d seen several kestrels. I’d already been planning to check the new park out as soon as possible, but was even more amped to go after hearing of raptor sightings. Plus, one of the many quests I’m currently working on is to get some better shots of kestrels – most of the ones I have are blurry. I went most of my hike without seeing any raptors and was preparing to tell Sharon that although I hadn’t seen any kestrels myself I was pretty happy about the Stellar’s jays, when I finally spotted a kestrel! Unfortunately he was pretty far away and instead of being better than my existing kestrel photos, these are much worse, but I’m sharing them anyway because for one thing, I have no pride, and for another, they kind of blurrily show the typical kestrel behavior of hovering then diving.
