I managed to run out of scheduled blog posts before having a chance to queue up some more! I’ve been working a lot of overtime the last few weeks and have had no time to go for hikes or take pictures; all I’ve had time to do is work, work, work, go to the wildlife hospitals, and work some more. And then yet more work. It’s Memorial Day today and I’m under strict instructions to not do any work this weekend like I did last weekend. Saturday I covered a shift at one of the wildlife hospitals then made some strawberry rhubarb jam, Sunday/yesterday I went to one of the incredible farmers markets we have in this area and bought more produce than I could carry (literally, I had to make two trips to my car), which I brought home and spent the rest of the day preserving. I managed to do five different types of preserving yesterday: pickling, dehydrating, canning, fermenting, and booze. It was great! So far today all I have managed to accomplish is scheduling another month of blog posts – somehow I managed to eke a month’s worth of posts out of the few hikes I’ve managed to go on – but I scheduled the first one for tomorrow morning, which left me with no post for today. Since it was still sitting in my “new” folder in Lightroom, here is a picture of me taking a peregrine falcon for a walk the other day at Sulphur Creek. Mark – who is now also a Sulphur Creek volunteer! – took the photo with my phone, and I’m terribly unphotogenic, so it’s terrible quality, but Elvis looks beautiful as always and there are few things I like doing more than holding raptors so look how happy I am. 🙂
