More Great Horned Owl

A couple more of the Great Horned Owl in the eucalyptus tree near the Coyote Hills visitor center. I’m particularly excited about sharing these photos with you because this weekend (as I’m composing this post a few weeks in the past) I got to begin handling one of the education Great Horned Owls at Sulphur Creek Nature Center, where I volunteer, and Great Horned Owls are one of my most very favorite animals. I got to take the GHO (and several other birds) for a walk around the park, an activity which I, of course, loved SO MUCH. I’ve done a lot of raptor rehab and have held many Great horned owls in that capacity, but I’m just getting into becoming a docent and handling education birds, and it is a really cool feeling to get any bird, but especially a Great horned owl, on the fist.
