I have a tendency to gush at times. Fair warning: I’m going to be gushing here for a few days. So earlier this week I decided to go to Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve (yes, that’s quite a mouthful) over on the peninsula. OH MY GOD IT WAS SO GREAT!!! I LOVE East Bay Regional Parks, but those peninsula parks…man, some of them are just astoundingly beautiful. Purisima Creek gets good reviews from everyone, and within 30 seconds of stepping into the place, I saw why. It’s gorgeous. And the creek is actually a creek and not some dried up gulch where a creek once was, which seems to be a thing here in California. The creek reminded me of my favorite parks in Virginia – and there ARE things I miss about Virginia and in particular its parks – except WITH REDWOODS. And not only was the park exceptionally beautiful, but something Very Exciting happened, but I’ll tell the story in chronological order so you’ll have to wait a couple of days. THERE WILL BE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!
If we are going in chronological order, first we visit Purisima Creek itself, which made me very happy.
This little waterfall flows into the creek:
