Early the other morning I looked out the window into our back yard and loudly exclaimed “HOLY RAINBOW, BATMAN!” This rainbow was NOT fooling around; it was so bright. I grabbed my camera and headed outside, passing Mark on the way, so he followed me out and admired the rainbow with me. After a few minutes he said, “it’s a pretty nice rainbow but it would be a lot better if it was a DOUBLE rainbow.” Later in the day, I checked my Twitter feed and the City of Hayward had posted a picture of the rainbowS, as it was indeed a double rainbow, which was obvious from their photo. When I examined the pictures I took, I saw the outer rainbow in some of them; you can see it, much less bright and defined, in a couple of my pictures below. Anyway, it was a lovely way to start the day. Much better than my usual way of starting the day, which is reading the news to see what horrible things have happened in the few hours I managed to sleep and sinking deeper into despair. Yes, rainbows > despair.
