It’s counter-intuitive I guess, but after I got that new camera to use primarily while hiking when *not* specifically looking for wildlife, I immediately tried to think of places I could go where I WOULD see wildlife to test it out on. I guess my thinking was I wanted to see how well the camera would perform if and when I DID see something interesting while I was out, which was the whole point of buying it. One of the places I decided to go was the Alviso location of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge. There I saw this great egret:
