I mentioned a few posts back that one of the reasons I chose to go to Hayward Regional Shoreline the other day was because it was warm out and most East Bay regional parks tend to get unpleasant when it’s hot because they are basically big brown hills with little to no tree cover. I knew from experience, though, that it would be windy and likely even chilly at the shoreline, so I wisely packed a jacket. After walking around Mount Trashmore, where the temperature was exceedingly pleasant, I walked out nearer to the bay and eventually I had to stop and dig the jacket out of my backpack because it was freezing. And very, very windy. After I finished my loop I started to head back when I spied what could have either been an egret or a piece of trash out in the distance. I zoomed the new camera out as far as it would go and saw it was indeed a very windblown snowy egret. Although I tired as I was getting of the unrelenting wind, I stayed there for quite some time admiring him and his fortitude. Along with the swallow from a couple posts back, the windblown egret was my other favorite thing of that day.
