I had been to Alum Rock Park in San Jose once before, very early this year, and although I found the park totally charming, I didn’t see a lot of wildlife there. I went back for a second time recently and it was a different story. For one thing, I learned they have education raptors on the property, which I didn’t know about before. Unfortunately the building they are displayed in is not open that many hours, and although I saw the aviaries where the birds live, I didn’t get a chance to see the birds and I don’t even know what species they have. What I did see were a ton of baby squirrels scrambling about the lawn near the education building, chasing each other around and eating grass.
