Raptors of Coyote Hills

I have to confess that it was difficult to call my first solo try (the owl guru and I tried unsuccessfully together a couple of months prior) looking for the burrowing owl at Coyote Hills a failure. For one thing I actually DID see the burrowing owl, I just didn’t realize it. But for another thing, I saw and realized I saw a ton of other really great wildlife that day. First and foremost, the fox from the last two posts, but also some great raptors:

White-tailed kite

Male northern harrier

And even an owl! This great horned owl, taken well after sunset, hence the blurriness.
