I hosted Thanksgiving at our house for some friends and I was feeling rather pleased with myself for being so organized about it: I did so much prep work on Tuesday and Wednesday nights that I even had a couple hours Thursday morning to just drink some tea and read a book. In fact, on Wednesday afternoon I was feeling so good about my planning skills that I decided I had time to spend a couple of hours at a nearby park before it got dark. I went to Hayward Shoreline because it’s close and because someone had noted seeing the infamous burrowing owl there earlier that day. Spoiler alert: I did not see that darn owl. It was a pleasant walk nonetheless.
