Marin Headlands and the Pacific Ocean

To continue where yesterday’s post left off, after admiring the Golden Gate Bridge for a few minutes, I continued my trek and soon came to a lovely view of the bay. This is looking out towards San Rafael. It was shortly after this that I saw the bobcat.

I was in some crazy bobcat-elation haze after the bobcat encounter, but once I got back to the car, I drove down to the beach. As I was looking for a parking spot, I spied this great blue heron walking along the road. When I lived in Virginia, I saw great blue herons EVERY time I went went to a park, and often just when driving around. I considered it kind of “my thing”. I don’t see them as frequently here, so it felt really cool to finish up my wonderful New Year’s Day with a great blue heron.
OF COURSE I concluded my day with a great blue heron

Then I watched the sun set over the ocean. The perfect end to a perfect day to what I hope shall begin a perfect year.
