Landscapes from Point Reyes

I’m slowly starting to find favorite parks around here, and embracing them for their vast differences to Virginia parks. And “vast” really describes Point Reyes!

I love how close I live to the ocean. I’ve always known I needed to live in a state that borders the ocean, and I’ve lived within 3 hours of the Atlantic my entire life, but being just 40 minutes from the Pacific is even better! These are some shots I took at Point Reyes that include the ocean; I find it incredibly relaxing to walk a trail while listening to the pounding surf. The Tomales Point trail is just close enough to the water that you can hear it, but far enough away that you can take stunning panoramic shots and also find wildlife other than gulls and the like. A fellow hiker told me he even saw a coyote, which I went looking for but didn’t see myself. But I can’t wait to go back and try again!

Beautiful place! I could almost hear the waves… but not quite, and now I really, really want to go see – and listen to – the ocean.
