Albany Bulb

Mark agreed to go adventuring with me on Sunday, our first weekend together in our new home (Mark’s been out here for a while but I just joined him a week ago). Because he’s not as into long hikes as I am, I did some research and tried to find a place we would both enjoy that involved driving my convertible around in the sun, being outside, and photo ops. The internet gifted me with Albany Bulb, a bay-side landfill/homeless encampment/dog park/art installation near Berkeley. Well, make that former landfill and, I think, former homeless encampment, but there were a lot of dogs and some art. Mark was disappointed in the graffiti, but he did enjoy looking for relics and snakes, while I liked photographing nature and wildflowers reclaiming the remains of a landfill. These are some of the more nature-oriented pictures; I’ll be back tomorrow with some that are more art-oriented and a couple of wildlife shots.
